floral faves of 2014.

floral faves of 2014.

this year has been a crazy and exciting ride for our SIRENFLORALCO. after launching last january, we've been completely blown away and totally humbled by the places this new venture has taken us in 2014. never i our wildest dreams did we think we'd be here, now! so thank you a million!! the truth is though, before we started, there were so many amazing florists friends who inspired us, and some incredible new ones we've come to know and love in this last year as well.

we have this inkling about 2015, that its going to be so exciting and life changing in many ways. and in celebration of that excitement and joy, we wanted to share a few of our favorite florists who inspired us to begin this journey, and who've inspired  and continue to inspire us since we've started.

we asked each of the beauties a few fun questions about flowers and inspiration. keep on reading and check out their beautiful work below:

PLENTY OF PETALS

>>what inspires you?

seeing and working with new, beautiful product gets me inspired. Sometimes you find these rare gems at the flower market (new varieties of garden roses and peonies,  and working with them is exciting. i really love that every wedding and event is unique

>>what are your hopes for the new year?

to always grown and learn, and make my business bigger and better. to enjoy it all and spend a little more time with family and friends. I also have a new ribbon project in the works that's launching in early Spring (Bellame Ribbon Co.) that I'm really excited about!

NATIVE POPPY

>>what inspires you??

when i open a bunch of flowers and one of them is unique and curves in an unexpected way, i always want to showcase that. i like to imitate nature- the way things grow naturally, wild, untamed.

>>what are your hopes for the new year?

hopes for the new year: I am setting out on a solo lady-month long- cross country road trip in january. 2014 was a huge year of growth which meant shedding a lot of my past. i'm hoping the road trip will provide me some space to gain perspective so i can consciously choose the person i want to continue growing into. in terms of business- just keep on growing, learning and never settling for whats good enough. also THINK LOCAL- i want to support the san diego growers and farmers i've come to know and love , as well as bring

attention to the fact that buying local is better for the environment. san diego has amazing flora- lets embrace it.

SOIL AND STEM

>>favorite foraging spot?

there’s this canal by my house where hundreds of rouge sweet peas climb over the ivy banks. wild sweet peas

in my area are so lovely during the summer. they come in a variety of shades from white to magenta; I even

came across some vibrant blue ones in late october this year.

>>what are your hopes for the new year?

so many of my goals and expectations were surpassed in 2014. i can’t believe the tremendous and

overwhelming response I’ve received from the local and instagram communities in my first year. i can’t wait

to see what 2015 brings!

MEG CATHERINE FLORAL

>>what is your favorite flower?

my absolute favorite flower is a garden rose, the true and delicate kind. e specially ones grown by my favorite

supplier in Northern California. they grow one called Pieter B.- it’s a antique gold, mustardy, sometimes

brown color, I wish I could think of prettier words to describe it because it takes my breath away every time.

it’s one of the most versatile roses i’ve worked with, you can put it with so many different color combinations

and it just enhances the tones and colors.

>>what are you hopes for the new year?

i’d really love to travel a little more. doing a few weddings last year out of state was really fun. i'd also like to

meet more people who love flowers the way I do. i know they’re out there. there’s a very small group of

independent florists in Indiana, and they’re dear friends of mine. but flower friends are of a different kind,

they see things a little more beautifully and detailed and I really love being around people like that.

mostly, I’d just really like to see more. i want to see everything. i want to see all types of nature in all different

settings in a million different places and I want to bottle everything up and bring it home with me.
